According to the global marketing firm, Euromonitor, Int’l., the nation with the highest per capita liquor consumption rate is South Korea at 13.7 shots per week. Russia is a distant second at 6.3 shots per week, however, the most popular liquor in South Korea is Soju, which is only 20% alcohol, as opposed to 40% (80 proof) for vodka.
Other nations rounding out the top 5 are Thailand, Poland and Japan. The United States, including Michigan, ranked 10th at 3.3 shots per week.
