SSI recipients have had their benefits adjusted for years to allow for assistance from others, such as food, housing etc. No longer. The new rule eliminates food from the calculation which can reduce benefits by up to one-third.

President Joe Biden has changed the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration by removing Andrew Saul, who was appointed by former President, Donald Trump. Deputy Commissioner, David Black, has also been removed.
The new Acting Commissioner is Kilolo Kijakazi who has served as Deputy Commissioner of Retirement and Disability Policy since January 2021.
